We the students members of IEEE SVIT student branch, Ms. Bina Rajan , Ms. Gowthami D, Ms. Kavya Up, Ms. Sangeetha R, Mr. Sourabh Bhat had unique opportunity to attend talk given by IEEE fellow Prof. Goutam Chattopadyay, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's, Jetpropulsion labritory, pasadena ,ca,USA held at IISC Bangalore on 25th of July.
Today's walk and breakfast with IEEE fellow was indeed an amazing experience. IEEE fellow Prof. Goutam Chattopadyay was very kind and down to earth. His living is metaphorical to down to earth. The walk began from the main gate of Indian Institute Of Science (IISc) , Bengaluru. Enthusiasts from all different age groups i.e students, working professionals, researchers, senior citizen pooled in and then the host, Mr.Abhishesk Appaji gave a start for the event. Prof continuously faced various kinds of questions which included technical and non-technical thrown at him from various attendees through out the event and answered them in his own way. He also did narrate about his inspiring journey from A One bedroom house at Kolkatta to Caltech and then to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration as he coins "I went with an INVITATION, but not APPLICATION". Key highlights of the discussion were " If education is the door to overcome poverty, then determination and hardwork is the key for it ". He also made a mention of various ways for getting into NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration for variety of age groups. It was enthralling to hear how projects or missions get planned at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He also made a mention on importance of team work, methodology of interviews at NASA and much more. He was happy to see IEEE student members from Tumkur and such other places being present on a Saturday early morning.
